Endocytosis is a cellular process in which substances are brought into the cell. The material to be internalized is surrounded by an area of plasma membrane, which then buds off inside the cell to form a vesicle containing the ingested material. Endocytosis includes pinocytosis (cell drinking) and phagocytosis(cell eating). It is a form of active transport.

ENDCOYTOSIS
Endocytosis is a process of osmosis in which materials move into the cell in a bulk or in a group through a special memberane called as plasma memberane of cell but here the movement occurs against the concerntration gradient which means active transport occurs . It is mainly divided into two types :-
1. PHAGOCYTOSIS
It is the process in which the outside solid materials move inside the cell in bulk or we can say that cell engulfs the solid materials outisde it. It is mainly known as "cell eating". Example :- Amoeba engulfing a food.
2. PINOCYTOSIS
It is a process by which cell drinks the outside materials or liquid materials move into cell in a bulk or in a group. Example:- Cells in the kidney use pinocytosis to separate nutrients and fluids from the urine.
