\textbf{Endoplasmic Reticulum}

Endoplasmic Reticulum is a web of membrane-bound tubes that work together to perform a specific function such as to serve as channels for transport from numerous regions in cytoplasm and nucleus. It also performs a role as a cytoplasmic framework by providing some superficial for biochemical activities.

For Example:-

  • Breakdown of glucose to release energy for cell.

It is further divided in two parts:-

  • Smooth endoplasmic reticulum (SER)
  • Rough endoplasmic reticulum (RER)

Smooth endoplasmic reticulum;

It helps in the manufacturing of fat molecules or lipids. These proteins, lipids are someway useful in building cell membrane, which is termed as Membrane biogenesis. Lipids also act as enzymes and hormones.

Rough endoplasmic reticulum;

It consists of ribosomes, which are present in all active cells. Ribosomes are responsible for generating proteins and DNA. Later these manufactured proteins are supplied to various places of cell as per need.
