Endoplasmic Reticulum -

  • It is a well developed microscopic organelle of the cell.

  • It is present in every cell expect prokaryotes and mammalian RBCs.

  • ER is lipoprptenious and trilaminar like the Plasmalemma.

Types of Endoplasmic Reticulum -

  • Smooth Endoplacmic Reticulum - Ribosomes are absent on the surface of SER.

  • It plays an important role in manufacturing of lipids and fat.

  • Rough Endoplacmic Reticulum - Ribosomes are present on the surface of RER.

  • RER synthesis proteins with the help of ribosomes.
