Answer:

Endoplasmic reticulum is a cell organelle which is found in both plants and animals .

It is a network of loops and membranes compressed back and forth .

RER or Rough Endoplasmic reticulum is ER which has Ribosomes attached to it . It is used for protein synthesis .

SER or Smooth Endoplasmic reticulum is ER which does not have ribsomes and is used for lipid (fat) synthesis .

Hope this helps .

main characteristics- network of tubular double membrane. it is continuous with the plasma membrane on the outside and the nuclear membrane on the inside

chief function - (1) support framework the cell.

(2) synthesis and transport of protein and fats

rough ER - this type of ER has a rough appearance as it is studded with rhizomes. it plays of Vital role in synthesis of proteins

smooth ER- this type of ER dose not have ribosomes attached to it ; it. therefore , has a smooth appearance .it helps in the synthesis of fats
