see, an enzyme works very efficiently but the substance it has to convert into product can only be converted when the enzyme has some certain amount of energy.

Without the given amount of energy, the conversion is not possible...

You might be thinking then why dont teachers or textbooks dont say much about energy of activation in many cases, it is bcoz the optimum (best) conditions for the enzyme to function are provided in most cases.... for eg human body has an inner temperature of 310 K which is optimum for most conditions.

one more eg: the acidic conditions (optimum) in the stomach for the enzyme trypsin is provided by HCl...
