Epeirogenic movement (from Greek epeiros, land, and genesis, birth) is upheavals or depressions of land exhibiting long wavelengths and little folding apart from broad undulations. The broad central parts of continents are called cratons, and are subject to epeirogeny.

Orogenic or the mountain-forming movements act tangentially to the earth surface, as in plate tectonics.

Answer:

Epeirogenic movement (from Greek epeiros, land, and genesis, birth) is upheavals or depressions of land exhibiting long wavelengths and little folding apart from broad undulations.Epeirogenic movement can be permanent or transient.

An orogeny is an event that leads to both structural deformation and compositional differentiation of the Earth's lithosphere (crust and uppermost mantle) at convergent plate margins.Orogeny is the primary mechanism by which mountains are built on continents.
