Epiglottis is just a flap like structure which acts as a barrier ...

Now question arises how it works !!!

Lemme explain ..

It is the one which presents the entry of food in windpipe .. As a person swallow the food automatically the flap closes and presents food from entering in windpipe guiding it's swift moment towards oesophagus!!
