The Female Reproductive System is the system of organs present in females for sexual reproduction. The female reproductive system consists of the following parts:
⏺️ Vagina: The part where the male reproductive organ meets the female reproduction and the phenomenon of ejaculation takes place.
⏺️ Uterus: It is also known as the Womb. The foetus is developed here.
⏺️ Cervix: It is also known as the neck of uterus. It is a small tubular structure which connects the uterus and vagina. The vagina and cervix together are known as the birth canal.
⏺️ Ovary: Ovary is a paired structure present in the abdominal cavity in females. It is the place where the female gametes (ova) are produced.
⏺️ Fallopian Tube: It is also known as the Oviduct. It is a paired tube - like structure which connects ovaries to uterus. After ovulation, secondary oocyte releases into the fallopian tube where the sperms fertilisers the secondary oocyte i.e. Ovum. This process is called fertilisation.
During mating , the female gametes (i.e. Ova) are fertilised by the male gametes (i.e. Sperms) in the Fallopian Tube. Then the fertilised egg is carried to the Uterus where the development happens.
