Fertilization is the fusion of male and the female gamete.
The male and the female gamete are released from the male and female reproductive organs.

Male gamete or sperms enter in female body through vagina.
That it travels through fallopian tube.
Hence, process of fertilization takes place in fallopian tube.
There are two types of fertilization:-
- External fertilization
- Internal fertilization
External fertilization :-
- In this kind of fertilization fusion of male and female gamete takes place outside the female body.
- Chances of survival are less so more number of eggs are produced.
- Example :- Starfish, Frog etc.
Internal fertilization:-
