Plasma is the fraction that contains the albumin and other proteins in blood that pull fluids back into the blood vessels. It also if not separated contains platelets (but these are often pulled off as a separate fraction). It also contains clotting factors.

Usually there is one unit plasma given for 5-6 units PRBC's in surgery.

There are also platelets to help clotting and the "buffy coat" which are white blood cells.

Almost all blood is fractionated.
