 \frac{final \: velocity - initial \: velocity}{time \: taken} = acceleration

Acceleration is the rate of change in velocity with respect to time . There are two types of acceleration :

  • Positive acceleration = denoted by a positive sign .
  • Negative acceleration = Denoted by a negative sign.

A body is said to be in positive acceleration when the rate of change in velocity is increasing.

A body is said to be in negative acceleration or decelerating when the rate of change of velocity is decreasing.
