Fourier's law:

The law of heat conduction, also known as Fourier's law, states that the rate of heat transfer through a material is proportional to the negative gradient in the temperature and to the area, at right angles to that gradient, through which the heat flows.

Fick's 1st law of diffusion:

Diffusion occurs in response to a concentration gradient expressed as the change in concentration due to a change in position, . The local rule for movement or flux J is given by Fick's 1st law of diffusion: ... The flux J is driven by the negative gradient in the direction of increasing x.
