What is freezing rows and coloumns

To unfreeze the first column, choose Unfreeze Panes from the menu. You can also freeze both columns and rows at the same time. To freeze both rows and columns, select the upperleft cell in the data you don't want to freeze. Then choose Freeze Panes from the menu.

Freezing panes allows you to keep certain rows or/and columns visible when scrolling across the worksheet. Splitting panes divides the Excel window into two or four areas that can be scrolled separately. When you scroll within one area, the cells in the other area(s) remain fixed.
