The earth wire is a very low resistance wire which is usually connected to the metal casing of the appliances .
Earth with is used to create a safe route for the current to flow through , if the the live wire ( live wire carries electric current to the appliances) touches the casting . This way we safe due to unwanted current flow through appliances .that's why earth wire is necessary .

The main function of the earth wire is to conduct the leaking current from the electrical appliance to the ground . It is connected to the outer metallic body of the appliance .
