Genetic Drift:
- Genetic drift is a mechanism caused by evolution because of chance events.
- It depends on the probability of change in allele frequencies. It is basically synonymous with the sampling error.
- The evolution mechanism involving changes in "allele frequencies" due to chance over generations is called genetic drift.
- This mechanism could either result in loss of alleles or by fixation or rise to a hundred percent frequency of other alleles.
