Grafting: In grafting the cambium bearing shoot (one which holds it, or a scion or graft) of one plant is joined to cambium bearing the stump (the root system or the stock of the plant) of a related plant through different formation of unions like tongue grafting (called as a whip or the grafting done by slicing of plants), wedge grafting, crown grafting, side grafting.

In Crown Grafting several scions are used and joined to form a single bearing stock. In approach grafting the shoots of two independently growing plants are brought together, removed off a slice of bark (usually thin or fine layer is cut) and wood for distance of 2.5 - 5.0 centimeters or given tongue-like cuts before being bound together by grafting wax (special wax used for joining two or more grafted plant parts). After the union is completed, the stock is often cut off above the graft while the scion plant is cut off below the graft.

Graft is used for quick multiplications and proper growth of better varieties of weaker roots, examples, Mango, Apple, Pear, Rubber, Orange, etc. are some which are following the method for weak roots. In bud grafting, the scion is a bud at an early stage with a small piece of bark cutted off, examples, Rose Apple, Peach. Multipurpose like apple and peach can follow both methods or with an addition of bud grafting.
