The surprising change in agriculture after the year 1966-67 was known as green revolution.
As a result of this Punjab and Haryana became the grain bowls of India . Exports increased and imports decreased to a much extent

The main features of Green Revolution in India are:

1. Introduction of new and high yielding variety of seeds.

2. Increased use of fertilizers, pesticides and weedicides in order to reduce agricultural lose

3. Increased application of fertilizers in order to enhance agricultural productivity.

4. Use of latest agricultural machinery like tractor, seed drills, threshers and harvester.

5. Use of high disease resistance varieties so that production will enhance.

6. The life of farmers become changed. There income increased and increased income is a symbol of high standard of living.

7. Means of transport also developed so as to transport the food grains to markets.

8. Income to government is also increased by exporting these products.
