The 8 years from the beginning of the third five year plan to the fourth plan (1961-69)have been the most important years of history of Indian agriculture. This was such a period in which new strategy of agriculture was adopted. In the form of pilot project, intense agriculture district programme was introduced in 7 district . the Promote use of new technique such as chemical fertilizer, pesticide medicines, advanced seeds, modern agriculture equipment, large irrigation projects, etc. Instead of the traditional means of agriculture , a new era aroused along with kharif crop produce of 1966-67, which was named as the' green revolution '. Prof. E Norman borlaug has given the birth to green revolution. But in india, M. S. Swaminathan is regarded as the 'Father of Green revolution '.
