Header is anything that you add on the top of a page in Word . It can be a topic name , or captions like 'Introduction' , 'Preface' , etc.
Footers are the information which we add at the bottom of a page viz. page no. , date , signature , your designation , etc .

Header - It refers to supplemental data placed at the beginning of a block of data being stored or transmitted. In data transmission, the data following theheader is sometimes called the payload or body.
Footer - A document footer is a small section at the bottom of each page within a document. It is often used to display company data or copyright information.
