A change in temperature, sort of. When a matter gains or loses something to change its temperature, you call that heat. You cannot see heat, but feel it. And, it is a form of energy.

The SI unit of heat is joule, and you measure heat by calorimeter. CGS unit is calorie.

Heat is an invisible energy,which causes in us the sensation of hotness or coldness.The S.I. unit of heat is joule (J) while its CGS unit is erg.Heat is also measured in calories (cal).1 J = 10000000 ergs.1 cal is the amount of heat energy required to raise the temperature of 1 g of water by 1•C.

1 kcal(kilocalorie) = 1000 cal and 1 cal = 4.2 J.
