Heat is the form of energy that is transferred between two substances at different temperatures. The direction of energy flow is from the substance of higher temperature to the substance of lower temperature. Heat is measured in units of energy, usually calories or joules.

Heat can be transferred from one place to another by three methods: conduction in solids, convection of fluids (liquids or gases), and radiation through anything that will allow radiation to pass. The method used to transfer heat is usually the one that is the most efficient.

1. Conduction:

It is a process of transmission of heat in solids, without the actual movement of the particles.

2. Convection:

It is a process of transmission of heat in fluids (liquids and gases) with the actual movement of particles.

3. Radiation:

It is a process of transmission of heat without any medium.
