Hilum is a part of an organ through which blood vessels or other ducts enter inside. Organs like kidney, lungs, spleen, lymph nodes etc. have hilum. The hilum of kidney is known as renal hilum through which renal vessels, nerves and ureter pass. Hilum of lungs provide passages for pulmonary veins, lymphatic veins and the bronchus.
