The Himalayas consists of three parallel ranges in its longitudinal extent. The northern most range is called Inner Himalayas or Great Himalayas or 'Himadri'. It is the most continuous range consisting of the loftiest peaks with an average heigth of 6000mts. It contains all prominent Himalayan peaks. The folds of the Great Himalayas are assymetrical in nature. The core of this Himalayas is made up of granite. It is perennially snow bound, and a number of glaciers descend from here.
