Homolytic Cleavage is breaking of a bond equally between the two atoms in order to form free radicals.

The word homolytic comes from the Greek homoios, "equal", and lysis, "loosening".

When the covalent bond breaks in such a way that both the atoms joined by the bond get separated with equal no. of electron or one electron then it is known as Homolytic cleavage.

Hope it helps.
