Hormones are chemical substances produced by the bodyto control the growth and working of an organ or cells.
Hormones are secreted by endocrine glands and have specific functions.
Endocrine glands are ductless glands which produce and synthesise the hormones directly into the blood.
TYPES OF HORMONES:-
- Growth hormones produced by pituitary gland stimulates the growth in all the organs.
- Thyroxin hormone produced by thyroid gland regulate metabolism for body growth.
- Insulin produced by pancreas regulate blood sugar level.
- Testosterone hormone produced by testis helps in the development of male sex organs.
- Oestrogen hormones produced by ovaries health in the development of female sex organs and regulate menstrual cycle.
- Adrenaline hormones produced by adrenal glands helps to decide whether you should flight or fight.
- The releasing hormone from hypothalamus stimulates pituitary gland to release hormones.
