Hybridization is the crossing of dissimilar individuals to produce best of both organisms. One advantage of hybridization is that it can combine disease resistance of one organism with the production capacity of another.

The mixing of atomic orbitals belonging to the same atom but differing slightly in their energies so that redistribution of energies takes place to give rise to new orbitals of equal energy and identical shape is known as hybridisation.
