What is hydrolysis.How it is differ from hydration?

Hydrolysis is when a water molecule breaks another molecule. Hydration is used for addition of water without breaking the molecule. ... While, Hydrolysis means the addition of water to split the compound in ions just as hydrogen ion and hydroxide ion for the decomposition of that compound.
