Answer:

person with hypermetropia/hyperopia or long sight can see clearly objects far away from them, but not close to them. This is caused by the shape of the eye - the eyeball is slightly too short. It is corrected by spectacles or contact lenses with lenses which are 'plus' or convex in shape.

HYPERMETROPIA / LONG SIGHTEDNESS :

It is a defect of human eye that the eye can see clearly the far off objects , but the nearby objects cannot be seen clearly.

Hence for a hypermetropia eye , the  near point shifts away from the eye. It is no longer at 25 cm.

CAUSES:

  • Contraction in the size of eye ball
  • Increase in the focal length of the eye lens

CORRECTION:

To correct this defect , the person has to use spectacles with convex lens of suitable focal length .
