hyper tension is just the another name for high blood pressure of the body.

hypertension have several stages:-

1)ranging from 130-139

2)ranging from 140 to 190

3)it is called hypertension crisis and ranges higher from 180

the exact cause of it is not known, as it can be caused due to

salty diet, stress, too much alcohol consumption and even due to old age

it is measured with a blood pressure monitor also called sphygmomanometer.
