Explanation:

The main difference between Asphyxia and Hypoxia is that asphyxia is caused by an injury or obstruction of airway passages whereas hypoxia is caused by inadequate delivery, uptake or utilization of oxygen by the body's tissues.

Hypoxia:

It is the deficiency of oxygen reaching the tissues. It may result due to sitting in a crowded room with poor ventilation. It may also be experienced at high altitudes where oxygen content of the air is low.

Asphyxiation:

It is a condition in which the blood becomes more venous by accumulation of more carbon dioxide and the oxygen supply diminished. This may result due to several causes like strangulation, drowning, or any obstruction in the respiratory tract. Death follows if the cause is not taken care of quickly. Artificial respiration is helpful in certain cases.
