Implantation is the attachment of fertilized egg (I.e.blastocyst stage of embryo) with the wall of uterus for further development till birth of child.

  • It occurs after a week of fertilization of egg with sperm.

Mechanism:- during ovulation there is released of ovum from ovary. Then fertilization of ovum by a sperm takes place in fallopian tube with in 24-48 hr of fertilization.

  • Then cleavage starts and formation of morula and blastocyst stage of embryo

  • This blastocyst with in 6-9 days gets implanted in uterine Endometrium for further development.
