Letter is the main thing discussed in the story "The Letter" . Ali , who was visiting the post office from last 5 years because he was eagerly waiting for her daughter's Merriam's letter who has gone to Punjab because of her husband's job. It was only the letter which changed the mind set of the Post Master , Post Master who said Ali a Pest was regretting his saying as he got to know his feelings about waiting for her daughter's letter . Post Master was also waiting for her daughter's letter when he got the the news that she was ill.
