The sum of a number and -2 means the addition of a variable(to represents the number ) which I'll call x , and -2 : x + (-2)=x-2. no more than 6 means the sum is equal to or less than 6 . add 2 to both sides

Just like linear equations , inequations are the same way

only when you are changing the sign (+ or -) or the side of the variable remember to reverse the direction sign (> or <).
