Inert elements or noble gas elements are the elements that are placed in the 18 the group in the modern periodic table. Examples are argon , neon , xenon , crypton etc..These elements have their outermost shell of the atom completely filled . They dont react with any other elements . They have low reactivity. So they are known as inert elements.

 Inert means non-reactive. Gases  are chemically inert if their atoms don't combine with other atoms in chemical reactions.
