What is Inertia???
Answers
Answer:
INERTIA:
It is the inherent property of mass due to which any body remains in the same state ( rest or motion ) .
Explanation:
TYPES OF INERTIA:
There are 3 types of inertia:
- Inertia of rest -
If a body is in rest it will tend to be in rest until the external
force is applied.
Example: if a stone is lying on the floor it will need external
force to gain motion.
- Inertia of motion -
If a body is in motion it will tend to be in motion until the
external force is applied.
Example: If a bicycle is moving it will need external force to
stop.
- Inertia of direction -
If a body is moving in a particular direction it will tend to
move until the external force is applied.
Example: If a tyre is moving the dirt will be thrown
tangentially backward or forward in a particular
direction.
LAWS OF INERTIA:
Net external force on a body is zero.
Then the velocity of centre of mass will remain constant.
- Inertia is the resistance of any physical object to any change in its velocity.
- This includes changes to the object's speed, or direction of motion.
- An aspect of this property is the tendency of objects to keep moving in a straight line at a constant speed, when no forces act upon them.
