inertia is the property of all bodies by virtue of which they are unable to change their states of rest or of uniform motion in a straight line without the help of an eternal force...

It is property of an object to oppose it state of rest or motion.

Eg:When moving bus stop we feel a force in opposite direction in which the bus is moving.
