Inertia is the central tendency of an object. It means object's want to be in currebt position.. like the object which is in rest wants to be in rest until any special firce applied to it..and if any object is in Motion wants to be in motion until any special force exerted on it...

The inability of the body to change the position of rest or of uniform motion by itself without the application of external force is called inertia .
INERTIA DEPENDS UPON MASS :- It is difficult to move heavier body than a lighter body . Similarly , it is difficult to stop a heavier body than lighter body is the measure of inertia , more the mass , more the inertia . Hence mass is also called coefficient of linear inertia .
