Inherited traits are the characteristics or features of a living organism that are carried from one generation to another in its genetic material. They can be physical or a behavioural traits.

The transmission of traits from parents to the offspring is called inheritance or heredity.

A few example are as follows.

In humans - Colour of the eye, hair, skin, height, etc.

In animals - Colour of the eye, colour and texture of fur, facial shape, etc.

In plants - height, colour of flower, size of fruits, etc.

Note: Traits like manners, customs, and learning and changes in the body caused by injury, accidents, deliberate modifications, etc. are not inherited traits as they are not results of genetic expression.
