An Integrated Animal Development Programme is aimed at improving the quality of dairy and poultry animals, to increase their yield (especially milk). This is achieved through selective breeding, immunisation of animals, and ultimately setting up of cooperative societies in rural and backward areas.

An example is the IDDP (Integrated Dairy Development Project) which was started in 1994 with an objective to develop dairy cattle breed to increase production of milk. Its other objectives include securing good prices for the milk producers, generating employment, and improving infrastructure.
