Interbreeding depression refers to the reduced fertility and productivity. It is caused by continued inbreeding, especially close inbreeding, I. e. Mating of more closely related individuals with in the same breed.

There are the some advantage of interbreeding :-

• Interbreeding exposes harmful recessive genes that are eliminated by selection.

• It also helps in accumulation of superior gene that are eliminated by selection.

• Interbreeding increases homozygosity.
