Intermolecular forces are weak relative to intramolecular forces – the forces which hold a molecule together. For example, the covalent bond, involving sharing electron pairs between atoms, is much stronger than the forces present between neighboring molecules. Both sets of forces are essential parts of force fields frequently used in molecular mechanics.....
Intermolecular Spaces:- The spaces between molecules of an element..in an atom is known as intermolecular space.in solids there is no intermolecular space since the molecules are tightly packed which makes them hard too..that is why we observe that solids r hard.in liquids,the intermolecular spaces are somewhat lose which makes a liquid loose and soft.in a gas,the intermolecular spaces are the mostor greatest as compared to other states.....
