internal resistance = it is the e.m.f of cell when the cells are connected in open circuit.

The inverse resistance of the cell by the electrolyte present in a cell is called the internal resistance of the cell.

The internal resistance of any cell depends on the following two facts.



(i) Increasing the distance between the two plates of the cell increases the internal resistance of the cell.


(ii) Increasing the concentration of electrolytes increases the internal resistance of the cell.
