A hydride is a binary compound of hydrogen with another element.... Strongly electropositive metals like Na, K, Ca form ionic hydride - NaH, KH, CaH2- in which hydrogen exists as H-ion....
The number of H atoms with which an element combinies to form its normal hydride is equal to its valency..

I hope it will helps

arunka142003: But valency doesn't change........... Right?
