Irony is the use of words in a manner that is opposite to what to you to sound funny.
Example - Oh Lord! The floods in Sahara desert cause a great deal of catastrophe.
How is it different from paradox and satire?
Well, paradox is a statement or thing that seems to say two opposite things but may not be true.
Example - It is a paradox that computers need maintenance often, since they are meant to save people time.
Satire is the way of using humour to show that something is foolish, weak, etc.
Example - The movie is a political satire.

Hey

• Irony :-

When there is a situation that the sentence is something else but it's meaning is different ( opposite ) .

It us mainly of 4 types :-

# Verbal irony = When we say anything but we do just opposite .

# Situational irony = When the situation is of the action of anything but it happens just opposite .

ex : when you go home late night and expect mother will scold but your mother doesn't scold and instead she talks you nicely . This is situation irony .

Other irony are :-

# Dramatic irony

Now ,

• Paradox :-

It is literature device by which the statement makes itself wrong .

It will be more clear by this ex :-

# Nobody goes to that restaurant because it is too much crowded .

See in this statement , it makes itself wrong .

• Satire :-

It is also a literature device by which author or poet shows / gives the negative quality of main character . It shows the negative aspects if society by filling / giving any negative points to main character .

# This is done to create humour or to reflect the bad aspects of society .

thanks :)
