An irrational number is a number which can not be expressed as a fraction that is it cannot be put in the form of a/b where b≠0 (same as p/q).
the reason as to why they cannot be expressed in this way is because they are not terminating and their decimal expansion is repeating or recurring.
e.g.: pi ( 22/7),roots of 2,3,5,6,7,etc.
