Answer:

The process of watering the plants is called irrigation. The two methods of irrigation which conserve water are:

• Sprinkler System - This system is ideal for uneven land. It consists of the main pipe and the perpendicular pipes which contain rotating nozzles at the top. When water is passed through the main pipe under pressure, it escapes from the rotating nozzles and get sprinkled to the crops as if it is raining. This system is best suited for sandy soil.

• Drip irrigation - This is the method in which water is supplied directly to the roots of the plant drop by drop. It is the best method for watering shrubs, trees and gardens as water is not wasted at all. This technique is also known as 'trickle irrigation' and 'macro irrigation' since water is supplied drop by drop.
