The Jones oxidation is an organic reaction for the oxidation of primary and secondary alcohols to carboxylic acids and ketones, respectively. It is named after its discoverer, Sir EwartJones. Jones reagent is a solution of chromium trioxide in dilute sulfuric acid and acetone.
