Judiciary represents an organised system for the dispensation of justice in a country that includes courts which interpret the law and apply them to resolve disputes. Criminal offences are covered under judicial system which dispenses punishment for crimes according to the law. Judiciary consists of many levels of courts at district and state level which are headed by the apex court of the country known as the Supreme Court. The judges who administer justice are also known as the judiciary.

It is the independence of the judiciary that allows the court to play a central role in protecting the fundamental rights of the citizen.
