"Norwesters are called as large thunder storms followed by heavy rainfall in the Gangetic plains in India and Bangladesh. It is also called locally as Kalbhaisakthi.

These type of kalbhaisakthi occurs from March till the monsoon ends in north India. In India, the main states affected by this kalbhaisakthi are Orissa, Chhattisgarh, Bangladesh, West Bengal, Assam, etc.

These kalbhaisakthi type storms totally destroy the human life, natural resources, rail tracks, and telephone communications. Occasionally, the tornados also join with them to make the situation very worst. The major crops destroyed by these Kalbhaisakthi are jute, tea, etc."
