The Ko-untas or Kun-tas (singular: Elk-entawi or Alk-anata) are originally described as A-rabs, descendants of Uqba ibn Nafi, [1] later as Berber Zenata. [2] The Ku-nta tribe is also considered to have its roots in Sidi Ahmad al- Bakkay, the founder, who di-ed in the early 16th century. The K-unta originated in Qayrawan.
